![]() In terms of OP's post, I'd actually put Jan and Bakalar at the center of the new show, not Grubb per se. It would take some really great content to build that enthusiasm back up.Ĭouldn't agree more with this sentiment! (And I said so at the time). Still though, I'm glad the company's still around and I'll be watching from time to time on YouTube, but I don't really see a reason to subscribe as is. I'm glad Dan and Bakalar are still around, but it feels like they're showing up less and less in the videos I watch. The firing of Jeff G, Jason, and Jess kind of haunts the vibes. It's simply not something that can be recreated remotely, and I don't think there's any possibility of the crew getting back together in person more than once or twice a year (though it's great when they do).Īnd yeah, it's a bummer that the originals are all gone-and some gone harder than others. You never knew if you were going to see someone get a little too buzzed, eat something gross, prank the GameSpot crew, nearly break their hand, etc. And I've enjoyed the remote videos, like when they went to Universal Studios.īut a big part of the Giant Bomb magic had to do with the "anything can happen" dynamic from the live streams when everyone was there in person. ![]() Fitting the Bombcast back in would probably take sacrificing something else and I doubt it happens. Week's NES video and the new Jeff podcast comes out today. ![]() Still haven't listened to last week's Nextlander and I'm only halfway through last The only consistent gaming content I follow each week at this point are the Nextlander podcast and Jeff's podcast, as well as Jeff's weekly NES videos but even those I struggle to keep up with at times. I'd even be willing to try following them again but I'm just not sure I have time. I can believe they found the right balance again. That said, I still like everyone on the crew to varying degrees. I still am subscribed on Youtube and once or twice I've clicked on a video that looks interesting but I haven't watched/listened to the Bombcast since except once on a road trip when Spotify started auto playing one after something else I was listening to ended. The way they were treated by the whole thing just rubbed me so badly and it kind of made me feel like the issues I had with it weren't going to get a response. Then Jason/Jess got fired and I just checked out. I slowly drifted away to the point I was only watching the Bombcast and was often weeks behind on it. The group was great, but they felt misused. It was too many people for one podcast but the Bombcast, the part of their content that worked the best for me now that they were home, just turned into the Jan/Grubb/Bakalar show and while I like them all fine, and quite like Jan and Grubb together, I missed the rest of the crew. Dan felt like he was usually missing from the content I cared about too. Bakalar, who I thought was a great component on the Beastcast, never seemed to fully gel with the group. (They're great, particularly Lucy, there just was never enough of them) Jason felt completely pushed to the side. Tamoor/Lucy never actually felt like members of the crew, they felt like regular guests. Over time though, I got somewhat disillusioned with it. The new crew was a breath of fresh air at the time. For a long time I never fully abandoned them but I actually was drawn back in a bit after Jeff left.
