They will then never acknowledge their 10 year plan and it will never be brought up by them again just like the Slipspace Engine. I fully expect them to do the bare minimum before announcing the game will go into "maintenace mode" or whatever and they'll tell us that they're excited for what they're cooking up for the future and can't wait to show it to us and to "stay tuned spartans!". Microsoft WILL see this and make the decision that its not worth the time and money to keep making new content for game no one is playing. By the time their anemic Season 3 releases in March(assumung they make that date) Destiny 2's next big DLC will be out just prior. Player numbers are already incredibly low and by the time this "Winter Update" comes out MW2 and the rest of the big holiday releases for this year will already be out. This game isn't going to last the years it needs to be fixed. I could go on, but those are my main gripes as to why I didn't care for Halo's campaign. That works brilliantly in those games, but it's horrible in a Halo game. Using stuff like logs and journals actually works *really well* in games like "System Shock" or "Bioshock" because it actually fits the narrative and theme and helps to create mystery as to what happened and builds a heightened sense of tension. On top of that all the major story elements are told through logs and journals rather than actually be part of the game. This is a really bad idea for a mainline Halo game. Setting aside the whole thing with "The Endless" or whatever they're called, the way the story is told was awful.įor starters you're thrown into it with no context for what's happening unless you happened to play Halo Wars 2 or read all the expanded universe novels. The story of Halo: Finite is equally garbage. My God, even *Cyberpunk's* world is a thing of majestic beauty and awesomeness when compared to the "world" of Halo: Infinite. And the only real character beside Chief and Faux-Cortana is that pilot guy and he was absolutely dreadful. As it stands, the FOBs just serve as fast travel points. Sure, I get that they're on a ring, but even some real interaction with all the marines you save or the FOBs you create would have been nice. It's dull, vapid, repetitive, and lifeless in comparison. Since they decided to make Halo: Infinite an open-world game I can't help but compare them.Īnd compared to things like Red Dead Redemption 2, Breath of the Wild, and even stuff like Far Cry 5, Halo: Infinite falls painfully short. By 2021 there had been a *LOT* of great open world games. Well, sure, it's my opinion, but it's based on experience with other games. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier and Windows Central's Jez Corden both reported that the campaign DLC wasn't scrapped. Rumors began to swirl that these changes would also see 343 Industries scrapping its long-rumored campaign DLC for Halo Infinite and focusing almost exclusively on the multiplayer. Among these layoffs, creative director Joseph Staten also departed the studio to go work at Xbox's publishing division. Sadly, Microsoft laid off thousands of employees earlier this week and 343 Industries was hit pretty hard. ![]() Ultimately, that began to hurt the developer more and more in the long run. The campaign was great, the multiplayer was fun, but there were issues with the progression systems and how content was rolled out. 343 Industries has had a lot of growing pains with this series, but Halo Infinite was where it began to really figure everything out.
